Celebrating our birthdays

I started my business in July 2016. It has certainly changed a lot since then. I was made redundant in January 2015 and took three months off to decide what to do with my life and debated whether or not to go and work somewhere else or set up on my own.

I chickened out and went to work for another company. At first that was great but soon wasn’t the right fit for me when all those I supported either retired, left or were made redundant. I went part time and with permission started up my own company: Angie PA Ltd.

‌

I honestly didn’t know what I was doing or where to start or even fully understand what I was offering. But, I made a start and nothing was perfect - I did wait for things to be in place before I announced ‘I’m here and can help you’ But that was a mistake.

‌

I didn’t need a website, and I didn’t need any business cards right at that moment. What I needed was an updated LinkedIn profile and Facebook account.

‌

I joined relevant groups and got some great tips. I started networking, which was a horrifying experience for someone who was literally the person in the background compiling the reports and handing them to someone else to present. When you have 33 years of corporate experience in the back office, visibility is not something you have to worry about!

I found a few clients, which I also still have to this day. I was elated, and I knew I could do a great job for them. I then started to work on what I really loved doing. Teaching. I realised I loved helping people understand systems and software that they struggled to work with. We are not all the same, and we definitely don’t know what we don’t know.

That led to my creating courses and teaching, which was during the period of 2020 and 2022, when everything in the world appeared to stop and turn upside down.

People started to reach out to me to say, 'Great that you are teaching this stuff, but what about me? I don’t have the time to do it and don’t understand it enough either'.

‌

I then started to help them. A done-for-you service, if you like. I truly love getting to know and understand different systems, software, and tech stuff. I am inquisitive and thrive on learning new things. It keeps my offerings fresh and up-to-date.

Even today, I am still learning.

‌

In September 2022, I changed my business name to AB Business Management Solutions Limited to fit in better with what I do now.

‌

July is my business birthday - 8 years WOOHOO, and I celebrate my birthday too 57 years! EEK 🤣😂🎉
